Ukulele

December 27, 2011

We hold this truth to be self-evident — if every citizen spent a little bit of time playing the ukulele, the world would be a nicer place.

At  www.thebeatlescompleteonukulele.com  a new recording of a Beatles song featuring a different artist was released every Tuesday.  The project began on January 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day) and concluded on July 31, 2012. (During the first week of The London Olympics)

David Barratt the instigator of this project calls it Performance Philanthropy; giving stuff to people in order to make the world a better place. Ten of the leading artists in NYC where recruited to decorate a Kala Ukulele. Originally those ukuleles were to be awarded to: ” The 10 Most Important People In The World”. Why would they do such a thing? David Barratt hold this truth to be self-evident — if every citizen spent a little bit of time playing the ukulele, the world would be a nicer place.

“We hope that all the recipients will accept our gift in the same spirt as it is given. It’s a little like a Nobel Prize… Only useful.”
